The Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard was set up by our fantastic volunteers to support and help develop the project.
Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard is a registered charity (Registered Charity Number: 1176602).
All funds raised by the Friends are used to help with the costs of running the vineyard, such as purchase of equipment and training courses.
Benefits of membership
You can become a member of FWAV in one of two ways
- Paying a subscription (annual or lifetime)
- By contributing 10 volunteering hours in a rolling 2 year period
Membership of the Friends gives two types of benefits.
By becoming a Friend, you are able to access benefits that are not available to the general public. These include:-
- The opportunity to visit the vineyard on a Tuesday or Friday morning throughout the year (by arrangement)
- A regular newsletter
- Early booking for events
- Invitations to Friends-only events
- Discount on wine purchases
- Free glass of Warden Abbey Wine at our Open Day
- A vote at the AGM
- A vine you can plant & tag with your name so you can follow its development (when planting takes place)
As a Life Member you’ll also receive
- A bottle of sparkling wine* (or still wine if sparkling is unavailable)
- A complimentary vineyard tour for two people
*To be collected from the vineyard
As a registered charity, Friends of Warden Abbey Vineyard supports the aims of the Community Vineyard, and your paid Friend's membership will help support these aims. Your subscription enables us to:
- Purchase 2 trellis posts
- Plant 2 young vines
- Control disease on 20 rows of vines
- Press enough grapes for 100 bottles of wine
- Purchase a pair of secateurs or loppers for our volunteers
- Provide opportunities for school visits
- Provide opportunities for workplace volunteering activities
Membership subscriptions
Subscription is from £25 (£40 for a couple) but any amount more will be gratefully received. Individual, Joint or Life memberships are available.
All volunteers who contribute 10 hours volunteering to the vineyard project in a rolling 2 year period become volunteer Friends, but may also subscribe if they wish to do so.
Gift subscriptions are available and make a great gift for a keen gardener or wine enthusiast! As well as a welcome letter, they come with a blank gift card showing a scene from the vineyard.
