Plant a vine to mark an event such as a new arrival, a birthday, Christmas, a wedding or the passing of a loved one
Looking for an unusual gift that does not require wrapping or posting, will not sit on a shelf gathering dust, involves a fun day out and is carbon negative? You’ve come to the right place!
Now you can buy a vine for yourself or someone close to you that will be planted in the vineyard, will be tagged with your/their name, and will go on producing local English wine far into the future.
How it works
- You will place an order for one or more vines.
- We will prepare an invitation to our next planting day together with some background information about the vineyard, we'll send this with a covering email to you or the gift recipient(s), according to your instructions.
- As planting day approaches, usually in May, we will invite you to confirm if you would like to attend along with any friends/family you might like to bring along. If you are unable to come we will plant and tag your vine for you.
- On planting day itself you will be welcomed to our beautiful Bedfordshire vineyard, given instructions by the vineyard manager and will be ably assisted by our dedicated volunteers. Once planted you will tag your vine with a name, dedication or some other inscription of your choice and we will finish the day with a celebratory glass of wine.
- You will be free to visit your vine periodically as it grows and matures, a good excuse perhaps to come along to our open day or one of the many other events we run throughout the year.
“We had a lovely family outing in May at the Warden Abbey Vineyard, to plant our vines. Our daughter had gifted vines to several friends and family members at Christmas. Such a wonderful present and especially perfect for the people that are tricky to buy for! (Also won’t break the bank!) Between us we had eight vines to plant, not everyone could attend so the five of us that could were able to plant for all and this meant the little ones were delighted to do some extra planting!
