Pruning log

It's impossible to remember what was done to a specific vine back in February when it's in full leaf in summer. Two of our volunteers have been photographing the vines in row 102 - a short row of six Reichensteiner vines at the far end of the vineyard.

The idea is to assess the benefit to the growth made by the pruning decisions. The images below show the six vines before and after pruning and also showing the grapes just before harvest.

Each vine is numbered, so take a look at the photos of a vine starting from the oldest pictures in 2016 and see how the vine has evolved. Vines 2 (2020) and 4 (2016) both had major surgery to remove the old twisted trunk and focus new growth on a new trunk.
